Excursion to the State Hermitage Museum.
The State Hermitage is one of the oldest and largest museums in the world located in 6 historical buildings. The art collections of the Hermitage Museum include over 3 million items dating from the Stone Age to modern times. Magnificent works of art including prehistoric culture, Egyptian artworks, the art of Antiquity, Scythian gold and great collections of Western-European paintings and sculptures are displayed in more than 400 halls of the museum.The State Russian Museum

Day 3. St. Petersburg

Excursion to the State Russian Museum.
The State Russian Museum is the world’s largest museum of Russian art. It was opened in 1898 in the Mikhailovsky Palace.
The collection of the Russian museum contains nearly 400,000 works and covers the entire history of Russian fine art from the 10th century to the present day. It reflects virtually every form and genre of Russian art, including a collection of Old Russian icons, paintings, graphic art and sculpture, decorative and applied art, folk and numismatics as well as a great collection of Russian avant-garde paintings.

Excursion to the Kunstkamera.
The Kunstkamera is the oldest state museum in Russia. It has been the symbol of the Russian Academy of Sciences since the early 18th century. Founded by Peter the Great, it was open to public in 1714. Its purpose was to collect human curiosities and rarities. Today it is officially called “The Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography – Kunstkamera”. The museum’s collection contains over one million rare artifacts and reflects the diversity of traditional cultures in the Old and New World.

Day 5The Russian Ethnographic Museum. St. Petersburg

Excursion to the Russian Ethnographic Museum.
The Russian Ethnographic Museum is one of the largest ethnographic museums in the world. The museum’s collections trace traditional cultures of 157 national and ethnic groups of the Eastern Europe, Siberia, the Far East, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. The collections number about 350000 exhibits.

Day 6. St. Petersburg

Excursion to the Aurora Cruiser.
The Aurora Cruiser was built and launched in St Petersburg in 1900. The battleship participated in the Russian-Japanese War, in the World War I and in World War II. In October 1917, a blank shot was fired from the ship to signal the storming of the Winter Palace and the beginning of the Revolution. After World War II the cruiser was moored and was made a museum.

Day 7. St. Petersburg

Excursion to the State Historical Memorial Museum Smolny.
For over a hundred years, the building of the Historical Memorial Museum Smolny, constructed after the design of the Italian architect J.Quarenghi in 1808, accommodated the prestigious “Institute for young Ladies of Noble Birth”. After the February Revolution of 1917, the The State Historical Memorial Museum SmolnySmolny became the arena of Petrograd’s turbulent political upheavals. The Executive Committee of the Petrograd Soviet Worker’s and Soldier’s Deputies took its seat at Smolny on August 4, 1917and in autumn it became the seat of the military revolutionary committee. Later it became the Headquarters of the armed uprising, the October Revolution and then the residence of the revolutionary government headed by Lenin. The first Soviet government remained at Smolny until Moscow became the capital on March 10, 1918. During the Great Patriotic War, the Smolny was the heart of the besieged Leningrad and its defense headquarters. Today the City Government is located at Smolny. The hall where in 1917 the victory of the October revolution was proclaimed and the apartment where Lenin lived from 1917-1918 can be visited upon reservation. Furthermore, one can visit the following exhibitions: "From the History of Women’s Education -The Smolny Institute for young Ladies of Noble Birth" as well as "The Smolny - The Days of the Siege".
